Etsin yli vuoden Suomesta luonnoskirjaa, jossa olisi ruskeat tai harmaat lehdet. Sitä ei vain löytynyt. Ilmeisesti koko maassa ei uskota, että kukaan voisi haluta piirtää luonnoksiaan muulle kuin vitivalkoiselle paperille. Lopulta taivuin tekemään omat kirjani erivärisistä Fabrianon Colore -kartongeista, joita käytän muutenkin paljon. Otin tietysti yhden tällaisen kirjan mukaan Irlantiinkin, mutta se jäi käytännössä täysin käyttämättä. Syynä siihen on tämä kirja, jonka löysin ensimmäisestä taidetarvikekaupasta, johon törmäsin. Ruskeaa kierrätyspaperia, joka kestää vähän vettäkin. Hemmetin hieno! Kuuntele, Suomi.
I spent a good year trying to find a sketchbook in Finland that has brownish or grey pages. There were none. Apparently there is no possibility that anyone would dare try to sketch on anything but Bright White Sketching Paper here. Finally I got frustrated and decided to make my own sketchbooks from Fabriano's Colore -series paper. It's a nice thick paper I use a lot. I took one of the books to Ireland with me but when we came back, it was still almost untouched. The reason is this book, that I found in the first art supply store I came across. Brown pages - can hold a little bit of water. Bloody marvellous! Listen up, Finland.
