It's me again…

Ostin uutta akvarellipaperia ja kokeilin sitä heti itseeni. Yli puolen vuoden mallistapiirtämis- ja maalaustauon jälkeen kaikki ei mennyt ihan putkeen… Ala- ja yläosa kasvoista ovat eri asennoista.

I bought some new watercolour paper and tried it on myself. But after a 9 month break in life drawing and painting it didn't go without problems… The bottom and top half of the face are from different positions.

Infinite supply

Tein nämä kuvat HuuMaa-projektin oppimateriaaliin "Huumeet ja maailma". Kirja käsittelee yleisten kasviperäisten huumeiden vaikutusta tuotantomaiden asukkaisiin. Suositeltavaa luettavaa kaikille, jotka haluavat tietää, mitä huumekauppa oikeasti tekee.


I did these images for a Finnish anti-drugs campaign book for 7-9th grade and high school students. The purpose of the book is to show the effects of buying common organic-based drugs to the people in the countries producing the drugs. Only in Finnish at the moment.

Are they really made out of moles?

Löysin Tukholmasta vesiväripaperisen Moleskine-luonnoskirjan ja ajattelin kokeilla, mistä kaikki kohu johtuu. Eihän se paperi mitään ihmeellistä ole, mutta esineenä kirjanen on kyllä erityisen miellyttävä. Se on pitkältä sivultaan A5-arkin levyinen, mutta kapeampi, joten muodosta tulee mukava "widescreen"-versio luonnoskirjasta. Jep, kyllä näihin voi jäädä koukkuun! En löytänyt keskikokoista versiota sketch-nimikkeellä myytävästä kirjasta, mutta siinä on keltaista paperia. Nyt kun ne vain saataisiin Suomeen!

I found a watercolour Moleskine sketchbook in Stockholm and thought I'd see what all the fuss is about. The paper is nothing special but as an object, the book is very pleasing. The longer side is the same as an A5 but the book is slimmer, so it becomes a kind of "widescreen" sketchbook. I could see myself getting hooked on these! I couldn't find a medium size version of the "sketch" Moleskine but it has yellow paper inside. Now all we have to do is get them imported to Finland!

Koko homma on kuitenkin luultavasti lähtenyt liikkeelle yksinkertaisesta kirjoitusvirheestä lakiehdotuksessa, joka oli tulosta ahdistavasta pukeutumissäännöstöstä.

USA:n perustuslaissa on ainakin yksi pykälä, joka antaa rutkasti aihetta kummastukseen. Toinen lisäys kuuluu: "The right to keep and bear arms". En tykkää linnojen piirtelystä, joten keskityn kakkososaan. Mikä ihmeen fiksaatio amerikkalaisilla on karhujen käpäliin? Kaikkihan tietävät, että se johtaa väistämättä... (jatkuu osassa 2)

There is at least one amendment in the US constitution that keeps puzzling me. The 2nd amendment: "The right to keep and bear arms". I don't like drawing castles so I'll focus on the latter part. So, what's with this fixation on bear arms? Everyone knows that it will inevitably lead to... (continued in part 2)

Mad Man

Koska en ehtinyt croquisiin tälläkään viikolla, luonnostelin televisiosta. Etsin samalla referenssejä ed. postissa mainittua verkkosarjista varten, joten 50-luku jyrää.

Because I didn't make it to life drawing this week, I did sketches from the tv. At the same time I was looking for reference pictures for the webcomic I mentioned in the last post, so the 50's rock.
