Tein tämän taannoin Blind Spot Picturesille mainostamaan elokuvakäsikirjoitusta. Haluaisin ehdottomasti myös nähdä valmiin elokuvan!
I made this a while back for Blind Spot Pictures as a promotional poster for a film screenplay. I would definitely love to see the finished film!

IF: Boundaries
The Kelly family with Ned in the middle. The Kelly gang pushed and broke a lot of boundaries but ultimately could not escape them. I did this for a school book.

IF - Fearless: Wonder Woman
Pari vuotta sitten tein tämän kuvan Monday Artdayn kilpailua varten. Wonder Woman on edelleen mielestäni haaskatuimpia DC:n sankareita.
A few years ago I did this image for Monday Artday's weekly competition. I think Wonder Woman is still one of the most underestimated characters on the DC roster. The conflict between the demands of a modern peaceful society and a woman bred to do war, would have been a lot more interesting than the superhero soap the character's been used for.

Luova lauantai: Kaamosmyrsky
Äh, myöhästyin näköjään tunnilla kaamos-haasteesta, mutta onni on mukana, ja sama kuva sopii seuraavaankin aiheeseen… anteeksi kannibalisointi. Kuva on sateisen lenkin saalista.Spoils from a rainy jog.

Grammari
Tämänhetkisestä luonnoskirjastani on hyvää vauhtia tulossa "vaimoni Wayne's:ssä"-kirja. My current sketchbook is quickly becoming the "my wife in cafés" -book. This time there was just such a fetching gramophone next to her that I just couldn't pass the opportunity to capture it.

Akava Camp 2009

Akava Camp -korkeakoulukiertueelle tehty 3,5 x 2,5 m taustaseinäkuva.
An illustration for a wall display background measuring 3,5 x 2,5 m. It was used on a trade union tour of Finnish universities and polytechnics. The Akava stand was even voted best looking in a competition it did not participate in :)

Luova lauantai: Vapaa, IF: Flying

I just can't resist an image I can post on multiple illustration challenges. I did this during the summer for Akava Camp -tour. The characters were created years ago for their student brochures and it was nice to get to revisit them. I also did a background wall for the tour which came out fairly spectacularly.

Morgan & Dante as a free webcomic
Aloin juuri julkaista Morgan & Dantea nettisarjiksena. Olen tehnyt sarjaa lähes 10 vuotta ja oppinut sen avulla piirtämään kunnolla (tosin kaikki vanhimmat stripit on piirretty uudelleen). Tarina on kevyt seikkailukertomus avaruuden viidakoista. Mainos kertoo aika paljon - luvassa on vauhtia ja huumoria, eikä kovin paljon eettistä pohdintaa.I just started publishing Morgan & Dante as a webcomic. I've been making this series for nearly 10 years and it has taught me to draw properly (although all the earliest strips have been redrawn). The story is a light adventure in the jungles of outer space. Like the ad suggests - there is going to be a lot of thrills and humour.

Luova lauantai: Musiikki
I am well aware that this is a very Hallmarkish image but sometimes you have to go extra sappy to get the job done. :)

Bloomsday

In Galway, there is the former house of James Joyce's wife, Barnacle, which is now a museum. We thought we'd pop by while we were there but had no idea we happened to be there on Bloomsday - named after a character in Joyce's most famous book.
Suddenly, awfully nice ladies sat us on a bench and filled our mouths with tea and biscuits. Apparently they did this every year - they sat in the house of Barnacle, drank tea, ate biscuits and read Joyce. They only asked that all visitors read a bit of Joyce out loud. After I had stumbled through my performance, I took out my sketchpad and asked if I could draw. The nice lady had to ask the manager before she dared say yes. It was a very comfortable half an hour, sitting with James Joyce and biscuits.

Bienvenue à Helsinki

Ontuva ranska soveltuu hyvin tähän tilanteeseen. Takaisin Pariisin-lomalta.
Lame French is very apt for this occasion. I'm back from Paris. It feels odd when people tell me they are enthusiastic about the drawings I'm going to do abroad - in Paris it took me the whole week to get my bearings to an extent that I could start to draw. It's not the environment that makes the drawings, it's my vision of it.
In Paris I found I couldn't draw - I had to paint. Paris and France in general is so full of tiny details forming patterns that drawing would have taken for ever. Painting on the other hand is slower for me so I'm left with very few pieces from the trip. I did find some excellent aquarelle paper (Cartiera Magnani hot pressed 300g), which you can't get as a block in Finland - although even the paper was Italian. And everything was either more expensive or the same price as in Finland of course - except comics :)
